Patching security vulnerabilities

When I returned home from work on Thursday, I pulled on my front doorknob, and it just came right off. I inspected the pieces that had fallen to the ground, and discovered that it was never attached to anything in the first place. It was just luck that it stayed in there for a few months; anyone could have twisted and pulled it off with a little force. It had always felt a little loose...

It's fixed now. But I really wonder now: what other things in my house did the previous owner's son try to repair or replace?
