Selling out

I've got a bunch of Microsoft stock that I need to sell in order to make a down payment on "my" place. Who thinks they know when I should sell it? I was thinking this Wednesday or Thursday, but I don't know what I'm doing.

I would venture 2 guesses:

1) you don't own enough MS stock that a slight shift in share price is going to equate much money and ...

2) the price of the stock will not change dramatically in the next 3 days

so ... I say it doesn't matter much when you sell; so long as you sell soon enough to get your money before you need it for the transaction.

1) Not in the scale of buying a townhouse, no... but in a "buying a couch now versus a month from now" sort of way.

2) Probably not. But I can hope.

the market as a whole is on the down right now (this week) - something about China

Yeah, holy crap, I saw that. I should have just sold yesterday like I was going to.

Hang out for a month or so - at least till you got the new place. You don't want to move something like that.

You do know that you can set a price that the stock will automatically sell when the stock hits that amount.
