Broken Windows Theory

A very interesting and truthful little mini-essay written by a manager over in Windows land on why Vista slipped: Broken Windows Theory. It's probably the most honest thing about a Microsoft schedule that I've read before.
Admittedly, this essay would be easier written for Slashdot, where taut lines divide the world crisply into black and white. “Vista is a bloated piece of crap,” my furry little penguin would opine, “written by the bumbling serfs of an evil capitalistic megalomaniac.” But that’d be dead wrong. The truth is far more nuanced than that. Deeper than that. More subtle than that.

CNBC is calling the ending of Gate's daily role "huge". What's the scoop?

I didn't think this is big news. He has been saying he was going to start working at his foundation full time for well over a year now.

He is also going to be working full-time at Microsoft until 2008. That's still quite a ways into the future.

On a more related note, the people who responded to that article are almost all completely retarded. I'm scared of Microsoft's user base if that is a representative sample.

Who is this Ray Ozzie and is he well known at MS? What's the story on him?

Ray Ozzie is the chief technical officer or somesuch. He was the CEO of Groove, and one of the people responsible for Lotus Notes. You'd be better off Goog... er, Live.com-searching for his name.
