Well, in the course of building my first FrontPage feature, I have had my first feature slip. My stuff will still all make it into the eventual product, as there is obviously a lot of development yet to do, but something that I thought I'd finish this afternoon or tomorrow is going to take many weeks to finish, it turns out, and so it needs to be postponed until later. Essentially, I'm using a class that I thought was far more powerful than it really is; I apparently misunderstood the person who was explaining what it was capable of handling. So, I'm going to be creating a new infrastructure layer for the product to be used in special circumstances (of course, I can't be more specific than that). I'm basically getting an extension on an assignment, something that never really happened to me in college. It's a good thing that nobody else depends too heavily on the work I'm doing right now—I'm pretty much encapsulated and cordoned off from the rest of the work being done right now—but it's still kind of disappointing that I won't get done what I planned on having done. Of course, in the end, it will make for a better product, so I guess it's okay.
