Cornerstone

When I first decided that I would start a blog, I didn't think that I would do it for very long, so I just used one of the built-in Blogger themes, despite the fact that using a built-in theme for just about anything kind of hurts me. Now that I have decided that I'll continue doing this for the foreseeable future, I thought it was time to make my own template. Like all of my personal projects, I'm sure that the template to this blog will always be in a state of not-quite-finishedness. But, I had an idea for a photo, and I decided that the photo was too good not to be used on my blog in some way. So, here it is: completely absent of blue, the color that normally permeates pretty much every design for everything I make, and Myriad, my favorite font.

Is that your apartment or somewhere on the MS campus?

That's the conference room above my office at Microsoft.

Cool. Now that I look at it more, there was no way that could be your apartment. :-)

Anyway, I love the photo.

If I were taking the photo just for its own sake and not for my blog, and if it weren't already so difficult to set up from across the room using the auto-timer, I would have chosen a much wider angle to capture a greater sense of empty space. Then again, I did spend an hour on that photo, and I am still rather partial to it as-is. :)

It's an awesome photo. But, I'm disappointed -- this template has many corners to it yet.

I like the photo. Even more so because the light color and your shirt color mesh so well together. Also, I'm always partial to night photography and the only thing stopping me from spending every night doing it is that I have shitty equipment and very little aesthetic skill ;-)
