My pals Hratli and Ormus

I spent today playing Diablo II. Pretty much all of today. It was divine. I've started up a paladin, and I'm level 22 now, at the beginning of Act III. They've really changed things around since I last played years ago; the skill system feels very different now, with synergies between complementary skills. And the vendors sell mana potions now! Oh how I would have loved that long ago.

I kind of get the feeling that you're meant to replay certain areas of the game for more experience, instead of just playing once all the way through. The last half of Act IV is just so hard. I always die a ton in the Chaos Sanctuary, by the swarms of elite minions, and then a little from Diablo himself. I was only level 26 when fighting Diablo, a full four level-ups before I even got the first of my endgame skills.

I got that impression too. The one boss that gave me the hardest time was the big wormish guy at the end of Act II (? - been too long since I played it...so I might be a bit fuzzy on all the details)I always played the female character who had great range, and he would just totally kick my ass. The council also gave me problems.

Oh yeah, Duriel. He's also impossible. You're just tearing things up through the rest of Act II and then all of a sudden WTF HARD.

Yeah, he pissed me off so much. It didn't help that he would kill my summoned ally and kill her in one hit. Than proceed to kill my hired ally in one hit.

Still loved the game though.

Yeah, Duriel was the worst. I would always die in its pit and then have the worst time trying to get my armor back. As a sorceress, you can't survive long without the armor.
