Like losing my mind

Something's gone wrong with my internet connection. This makes me sad. My connection has been dropping for several seconds every couple minutes for the last couple days. I was hoping that they would fix it, but I should know better than that. All I know right now is that it isn't my computer... it's happening on multiple computers on the same connection. I guess I need to find out now if it's my router.

Sigh.

If you have Comcast cable, I was having the same problem with them. Apparently they did some sort of DNS switchover on their end, and whatever they did isn't compatible with a lot of routers. A quick firmware upgrade on my router fixed it.

Yep, we've got the same deal. I removed my router and "went direct" last night and I haven't seen the problem pop up since. If the problem remains fixed through tonight, I was going to start poking around Netgear's site for an update...

Seems to have done the trick. However, there are no firmware updates for my router, despite not being that old. It seems that other Comcast customers with the same router as me (Netgear MR814v2) have discovered that doing some tweaking and hard-coding your local DNS servers will get things working again. Not an attractive option, but I need to be able to plug in another computer now and again...

Ah, I have the Netgear WGR614v4, which I was able to update (the firmware change even had a dynamic DNS fix in the published changelist).
